New Atchison Train Show.

The North East Kansas Railroaders, Inc., is a widely diverse group of individuals who have one common interest - "RAILROADS". Our goal is to keep alive the history and glory of America’s great railroads. If you share this love of trains and railroading, the North East Kansas Railroaders, Inc., extends a welcome to you. We have many activities that will be of interest to you.

The North East Kansas Model Railroad Club was established in 1986. It was not long before members found that interest in railroading reached further than just modeling. As plans were made and goals were set, it was only natural that a name change take place. Only a few short months after organizing, the word "Model" was dropped and the organization became known as the ‘NORTH EAST KANSAS RAILROADERS SOCIETY".

The Atchison Rail Museum is Owned and Operated by the Northeast Kansas Railroaders, Inc. We are a group of volunteers.

In 1988, the NEKR Society established "THE ATCHISON RAIL MUSEUM" on property leased from the City with additional property purchased from Santa Fe Railroad at the site of the Santa Fe Depot Museum. Also in 1988, the NEKR Society became incorporated under the laws of the State of Kansas and applied for a Not-For-Profit corporation status under the Internal Revenue Code, 501 (C)(3). Therefore, contributions of material and money are tax deductible, charitable contributions.

From this page, and the others, you may take a look at our many interests as a club. You will find all links at the bottom of the pages.

If you click on the "Museum" button, you will be taken to the Atchison Rail Museum, home of the 811 steam engine. If you click on the "Layout" button, you will be taken to the NEKR's Layout where you can take a look at a few of our modules. By clicking on the "Membership" button you can become a member of the NEKR (a great honor). If you click on the "A&W RR" you can go to the Atchison and Western Railroad's page.
